Convergence Innovation Competition Expanding to Asia in 2024

The Convergence Innovation Competition (CIC) is coming to Asia! CIC is a competition recognizing student innovation and entrepreneurship that responds to today’s global challenges and opportunities. Founded in 2007, CIC is ogranized by the Institute for People and Technology (IPaT) at the Georgia Institute of Technology and supported by the Shenzhen Georgia Tech Education Foundation, an independent fund in support of Georgia Tech.

Student teams across Asia are invited to submit innovative and viable product and service ideas. This year we are focusing on teams from China, Malaysia, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam. CIC entries can be based on class projects, student research projects, as well as personal hobbies and interests. Each team should identify one, or more, of the UN Sustainable Development Goals that their project is aiming to tackle. Projects can also align with one or more of IPaT’s current research concentrations.

Semi-finalists will receive travel support to attend the gala competition on December 7 in Taiwan. The finalist will go on to receive travel support to visit innovation events and engage with entrepreneurship programs at Georgia Tech, in Atlanta, USA. In addition, the semi-finalist teams will receive US $1,000 while the finalist team will receive US $2,000 to help launch their idea.

United Nations Sustainability Goals

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015, provides a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future. At its heart are the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are an urgent call for action by all countries - developed and developing - in a global partnership.
