On behalf of the Office of the Executive Vice President for Research and Foundation Relations, we are pleased to share an exciting opportunity for GT researchers. The trustees of the Ray C. Anderson Foundation, which advances knowledge and innovation around environmental stewardship and sustainability, have invited Georgia Tech to participate in a program funding innovative research and project-based initiatives toward the advancement of sustainable production and consumption. Per the guidelines, the foundation tends "to focus on applied research with measurable, real world application opportunities in the following core areas:
- Renewable energy application and marketability. We define renewable energy as wind, solar, geothermal, tidal, landfill gas, biomass and low impact hydro.
- Reduction in energy intensity and carbon intensity in manufacturing processes
- Educating tomorrow’s leaders with integrated sustainability curricula that becomes more mainstream across all levels of higher education--crossing all disciplines such as business, engineering, manufacturing, energy, product design, building design and construction, architecture, chemistry, biology, ecology, agriculture, etc.
- Research and development of natural, nontoxic alternatives for traditional chemistry leading to more sustainable industrial processes."
Extensive details are available at the Anderson Foundation website.
Georgia Tech can submit up to 5 pre-proposals so we will be conducting an internal competition. Individual PIs may not submit inquiries directly to the foundation. Please send a 500-word description of your proposed project to me at firstname.lastname@example.org by Thursday, February 28 at 5:00 pm. At the top of the page, note the title of the project, the PI(s) and the PI's home department or center.
Please do not hesitate to contact me with additional questions.
