Core Research Areas

As part of its unique innovation ecosystem, Georgia Tech has developed Interdisciplinary Research Institutes (IRIs), including the Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI), that bring together a mix of researchers – spanning colleges, departments, and individual labs – around a single core research area.

Outlining core research areas and connecting them to the appropriate IRI is intended to help those unfamiliar with Georgia Tech’s organizational structure find the right expertise on campus. Essentially, the IRIs are intended to serve as the one-stop resource for obtaining information about Tech’s basic and applied research activities, which live in our academic units, GTRI, the Enterprise Innovation Institute (EI2), and the IRIs themselves.
